How to take useful photos for a service request

A close detail, wider view, dimensions and short video help the team arrive with suitable tools.

How to take useful photos for a service request

A good photograph does not always replace an inspection, but it helps identify the likely task and required equipment.

Four useful images

  1. A close photograph of the affected point
  2. A wider view showing its position in the room or facade
  3. The make-model label where relevant
  4. A photograph showing dimensions with a tape measure

When is video useful?

A rubbing door, mechanical noise, direction of water flow or equipment fault behaviour is often clearer in a short video.

Photograph safely

Do not climb onto a roof, approach an open electrical panel or contact electrical equipment during an active leak. A safe-distance image is sufficient.

Add context

State the location, how long it has continued, when it becomes worse and whether previous work was carried out.
