General Maintenance

Checks after a holiday home has been closed

Water, electrical, air-conditioning, odour and damp checks should be completed before using a property closed for months.

Checks after a holiday home has been closed

When a holiday home or villa remains closed for months, seals can dry, water can evaporate from traps, humidity can build and small faults may remain unnoticed.

Opening sequence

  1. Ventilate and check for visible damp or water marks.
  2. Inspect taps and connections before opening the main water supply.
  3. Do not energise the system if the panel shows dampness, damage or a burning smell.
  4. Open taps gradually and test cisterns and drains.
  5. Check air-conditioning filters and drainage before extended operation.

External areas

Roofing, gutters, doors, windows, external lighting and loose accessories should be checked for wind and rain damage.

Photographic list

List each issue with its room and priority so compatible tasks can be grouped into one service plan.
